Almost Summer!
Posted May 25, 2010 @ 12:45pm
As we approach the end of spring, flowers are starting to bloom and trees are starting to blossom. Things are really getting more and more beautiful outside. Here is a small picture of the flowers my Dad and I got her
for mother's day. She loves pink and she loves inpatients, so it's a win-win!

The temperatures may be climbing, but that can be a good thing! With high temperatures comes the start of swimming season! What is more fun than swimming you ask? The answer is simple: fishing! I can't get enough of swimming or fishing
. Something else that happens in the summer is the blooming of the neighborhood's magnolia tree!
My IRC bot is done, and I added a Windows binary of my password generator in case you don't have a C++ compiler. The IRC bot can be found here: http://www.nerblog.net/bot_src/. You need PHP to run it. I made my password generator four years ago, but it is just so useful. It is as random as I can make it. You can find it under "Miscellaneous". With this post I leave you a picture of the ever so beautiful magnolia tree. It is not ours, but it is nice to stare at; it smells fantastic, too
. I will post again sometime this weekend. See you all later!

Good Luck!
Posted May 20, 2010 @ 11:45am
Since I started learning Japanese on my own, my aunt has been supportave
from the get go. She sent me some "good luck cats". At least they are
supposed to bring good luck.

Check post #243 for updates on the PHP irc bot I am making. The updates will be in the comments.

IRC Client
Posted May 18, 2010 @ 7:00pm
I have nothing in which to program. I am going to focus my next project in PHP. I know that it's been done, but I am going to make an
IRC client in PHP. I am going to have to memorize quite a many more functions that I know of. A friend of mine, Sean, taught me some
basic regex, so I am feeling more confident than ever. I am accepting any help on this project. Send me an e-mail if you wish to
participate. Once I get it running, I will be making a #nerblog channel on the kbfail network. I am finally happy now that I have
something to do!

Walking a Musical Program
Posted May 15, 2010z @ 12:15pm
This has been a fairly gloomy week. Yet despise its gloom, there have been some high points. For one thing, the rain and cold can pretty much go and fuck themselves. Yesterday in particular was especially horrible! It rained all day and the night before. The only good day was earlier in the week; for the life of me I don't know what day that was. Other than that, it has been a very, very sleepy week. I got to hang with my case worker, Mia, yesterday. We went to the mall and walked about one and a half to two miles; we talked a lot too--it was pretty fun. I see her every other Friday. We will go to the library on May 28. I look forward to hanging out with her; she's fun and makes good company. Plus she takes me out of the house...that makes for a win right there
!
While we were out at the mall, we went to the Vintage Stock there. While we were there, I spotted a used CD by Creed; the album was "Weathered". I got it for a sleek $3 bucks. As soon as I got home, I rushed to my lair and ripped it to my laptop. It joins my collection of Seether, Godsmack, Evanescence, and Lady GaGa. I wish I had more music, but I don't have that many CDs, and I am afraid to download music nowadays. Plus my mp3 player is completely out of commission. I do not have a portable CD player either. I guess that all I have to do is rack up CDs and Itunes cards to replenish my music database. Losing 3009 songs really hurts me deep inside.
Changing the subject here. I am attempting to make a web crawler that downloads images to my pc. That way I just run my script and the images on a website will be automatically downloaded to my laptop! I gave thought to which language to code it in. I went thru C, Perl, Python, BASIC (lol), and PHP...I managed to settle on PHP. When I finish it, I will release it to the public. It can't be that hard, I mean really , just a few loops and a header() function should do it. We shall see how easy it is. It might just challenge me to no end! I am going to target 4chan for my little script.
I added a red theme and a purple theme to Nerblog. Try them out if you like. There is also a FAQ section up. Access it under the "Miscellaneous" tab up of the page. I will try to post again tomorrow after church. Until next time, bai!

Baked Potatoes
Posted Sept. 8, 2008 @ 6:30pm
I am fresh out of ideas. I can't think of anything to add to Nerblog; I can't think of anything to code either. I was going to make a tiny program to switch wallpapers, but I now find that it is very unnecessary to make one since Windows and most linux GUI shells already have one built in. I am going to brainstorm with a friend and see what I can come up with for Nerblog. So far all we've got is making a lofi version of the blog.
My regex lessons are going rather swimmingly. I am going to have lots of fun with regex once I learn it more in depth
.
I am going back up north to Kansas City, MO on Friday. I will be gone for about five days, so the blogging will be rather sluggish. Also in the events, my friend is turning 21 this Wednesday. Happy birthady, Kaj! Just gotta hope he doesn't get alcohol poisioning and die on his birthday. My aunt's birthday is on this Saturday, too! She is the one I will be staying with this weekend
. I hope you two have wonderful birthdays!

Coding is a Riot!
Posted Nov. 6, 2007 @ 7:30pm
Sorry for the lack of updating, but there's just been nothing noteworthy in the life of a neRd. Here's some stuff you may or may not find interesting...
This past week I acquired a new album from Paramore. The album was released this summer and now I have my mangy paws on it
! Here's a tracklisting:
My favorite song off the CD is "Misery Business". A neighbor of mine lent me some pretty sweet metal albums. Some of them I've heard time and time again, but others were brand new to me.
Tomorrow I will finish emptying boxes and will finally get some pictures of my apartment. Moving on to the programming business...I have decided to make the trivia bot in PERL. I will release more information as I develop it. Now let's give it up for BRAIN PUPPY!

Pumpkin Carving
Posted Oct. 28, 2007 @ 1:40pm
Last night was pumpkin carving night. The annual pumpkin carving party is held the Saturday before Halloween. I didn't carve a pumpkin this year; my dad went to town and made a wolf. This event usually consists of around fifty people. For someone with my condition, I don' handle crowds all that well, it was rather difficult. I saw the man in the hat, some cats, and a few frogs. All of them were from my imagination. There was quite a load of kids ranging in age from five to sixteen. There were quite a few intoxicated adults as well. I couldn't get wasted because of the medication I'm on. Even though I couldn't drink, it was still a fun event! I was out there with my parents for about five hours. I can't wait until next year's pumpkin carving party!
The bot project is at a stand still. I just can't decide if I should make it in perl or C++; I'm leaning toward C++. Pictures of my apartment will be posted sometime this week!
Here's a random picture of some cosplay!

Crazy Cinema
Posted Oct. 16, 2007 @ 7:50pm
So today I went to the movie theater with seven of the tenants of Cedar Hill (the appt. complex where I reside). Out of the six movies to choose from, I picked the Simpsons Movie. I am not going to give out any spoilers / details about the movie. That way if someone hasn't seen it won't get mad at me for ruining it! The humor was okay; it ranged from high class humor to shit so dumb that a 4 year old wouldn't laugh. It also has some good, moral lessons. I'd rate the movie 8.75 out of 10. If I were you, I would go out and see it if your theater is still running it. Else, you should rent it when it's out on DVD. Great stuff, right? Moving on to the next order of business.
In the next few days, I am going to start my next big programming project! I am going to make a multipurpose bot in perl. It will feature basic functions such as that found in the header "math.h" in C; it will also have nifty games and a trivia function. I'm not putting a date down as to its completion; I am still learning perl, too

Gaining Rep
Posted May 4, 2007 @ 6:20pm
This past week has been rather dull. I've been having bouts with my schizophrenia and some insomnia recently. I managed to get some programming done on my irc bot. Again, thanks to Max C. for lending me some code and his knowledge. I'm growing to enjoy perl more and more.
I've been taking quite a few PRN meds for my hallucinations and anxiety. Yesterday, even though I reached my med limit, I was still not quite right in the head. It will take just a bit longer (I'm hoping) to get all of this medication shit straightened out. I'm not going to post my med list right now, but lets just say it's 12-14 different medications. I am on more drugs than Dirty Grandpa! This really makes me irate; I often wonder what would happen if I ceased taking my medications. Deep down I know that I would be a clusterfuck to say the least. It actually hurts my throat to take all of my pills at once. Maybe I should take my meds in two doses instead of one giant pull? Oh well...sic vita est I guess. On a side note, Dirty Grandpa got out of the nursing home/rehab today. I can't wait until he goes on his next grand adventure!
Last night I had a bout of insomnia. I woke up at 1:00am and couldn't fall back to sleep until around 6:00am. I'm taking some benedryl tonight to ensure that I stay knocked out. I had a dream that I was a borg (@_o) and I couldn't stop thinking about the dream. I think that's where it all came in.
Next post is a milestone! The next tone will be Nerblog's 100th post! I gotta think of a way on how to celebrate this occassion..

Spiffyups

Yes, two posts in one day! Unheard of from me!
So the past few days have been more of a...well..."ulch" to be blunt. Farily boring to say the least. I did manage to fix some stuff up on the blog. The "Reccomend to Friend" link actually works now. I had to install PEAR and do a little workaround to get the mail function to move its lazy ass. With around 6 lines of code, it is now a-OK!
Still not done with the alternate skin...give it time and I might finish her up
. I've taken the code from Max's weather bot and I'm using it to make my own twisted creation. It's forcing me to learn PERL and regex, but I was gonna get to that stuff eventually D:<. I'll keep the weather funcitons on it for good measure, but I'll be putting games and other nifty features on board. On a nonrelated note, I'm gonna grab some chow and play some WoW (hells ya I can rhyme!). BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~
